Lady Buddha statue is one of the most famous places in Da Nang. Lady Buddha was built in 2004 and completed in 2010 after 6 years of construction. A local legend about Linh Ung Pagoda on Son Tra Peninsula has been passed down through generations. It is said that during the reign of Emperor Minh Mang in the Nguyen Dynasty, a Buddha statue washed ashore on the sandbank of Son Tra Peninsula. The local fishermen saw this as a good omen and built a shrine to honor the Buddha. From that moment on, the sea’s waves grew calmer, making it easier for the community to carry out their fishing activities.
As a result, the sandbank where the statue washed ashore is called Bai But, meaning “The Land of Buddha.” In 2004, Linh Ung Pagoda was constructed in this area. After six years of building, it was officially inaugurated, marking the resurgence of Buddhism in Vietnam in the 21st century.
The history of Man Thai fishing village dates back to the 18th century. When Emperor Le Hien Tong’s ancestors traveled across the country to reclaim land and establish settlements, they founded the ancient fishing village of Tan An. During Emperor Thanh Thai’s reign in 1889, the village was renamed Tan Thai.
By the end of the 20th century, Tan Thai merged with Co Man village to form Man Thai Ward, also known as Man Thai fishing village. Though many years have passed, the village has preserved its traditional charm, with fishermen still using rattan basket boats to catch fish.

In 1825, Emperor Minh Mang bestowed the name “Marble Mountains,” or “Ngu Hanh Son” in Vietnamese, upon this complex. Son Tra Mountain or Monkey mountain is located in Tho Quang Ward, Son Tra District, Da Nang City, approximately 10 kilometers northeast of the city center. Standing at 693 meters above sea level, it is a stunning national park that spans 60 square kilometers, with a length of 13 kilometers and a width of 5 kilometers.
